Implant-Supported Dentures in Kitchener
For denture wearers who want teeth that stay put. Compare snap-in and fixed options with Dr. Everardo and Dr. Tina Ramirez on Wilson Avenue.
Dentures That Attach to Implants
A regular denture rests on your gums. It relies on suction, fit and sometimes adhesive to stay in place. An implant-supported denture attaches to dental implants placed in your jawbone. The implants give the denture something to hold on to.
Many people ask about this option when their denture moves while they talk or eat, when they want to stop using adhesive, or when a lower denture never felt secure. We look at your current denture, your gums and your bone to see whether implants are a fit.

Snap-In or Fixed: Two Ways to Do It
Snap-in (removable) implant dentures
The denture clips onto two or more implants. You take it out each day to clean it and the implants. This option usually needs fewer implants than a fixed arch, and it is often the first step people consider.
Fixed implant teeth
The teeth are attached to the implants and stay in. Only your dentist removes them, for maintenance. A common version is a fixed full arch on four implants, which you can read about on our All-on-4 dental implants page.
Both options have trade-offs in cleaning routine, number of implants, cost and how they feel. We go through each one with you.
Who This Is Usually For
Implant dentures are often discussed with people who:
- Wear a full upper or lower denture now
- Have a few remaining teeth that cannot be saved
- Find their denture moves when they chew or speak
- Want to avoid denture adhesive
Your health history, gum health and bone level all matter. Some people need extra planning or a different approach. If implants are not the right fit for you, we will say so and talk about other options, including a new conventional denture.
How We Plan Your Implants
Planning starts with a CBCT scan, a 3D X-ray of your jaw. It shows where there is enough bone and where nerves and sinuses sit. We use it to plan the position and angle of each implant.
We place implants using the X-Guide navigation system, which gives real-time 3D guidance during surgery and follows the plan built from your scan. Our CEREC Primescan digital scanner takes impressions without trays of impression material, and our PrimePrint 3D printer makes items such as surgical guides and models.
Read how navigation works in our article on guided implant surgery, or see our full technology list.
Living With Implant Dentures
With a snap-in denture, you remove it daily, clean it, and clean around the implant attachments. The clips that hold the denture wear over time and get replaced at maintenance visits. With fixed teeth, you clean around and under the bridge every day using tools we show you.
Either way, regular hygiene visits matter. Implants need healthy gums around them. Our hygienists and dentists will set up a care schedule that fits your mouth.

Implant Denture Questions
Can you use my current denture?
Sometimes an existing denture can be adapted to attach to implants. It depends on its age, fit and condition. We check it at your consultation.
How many implants will I need?
Snap-in dentures usually use fewer implants than a fixed arch. The exact number depends on your jaw, your bone and the type of denture. We decide this together after imaging.
Will my denture still need to come out?
A snap-in denture comes out daily for cleaning. Fixed implant teeth stay in and are removed only by your dentist for maintenance.
Does insurance cover implant dentures?
Coverage varies by plan. We can help you understand your coverage and provide a treatment estimate you can send to your insurer.
Is the surgery painful?
Implant placement is done with local anesthetic. Most people have some tenderness during healing. We explain what to expect and how to care for yourself after surgery.
